A Derby Day Statement: Thady Gosden in Bespoke
We are proud to have dressed one of British racing’s most respected figures, Thady Gosden, for this year’s Epsom Derby. Known for his exceptional training record, Thady has overseen over 300 winners worldwide, including major victories in the Oaks, the British Champions Fillies' and Mares' Stakes, the Ascot Gold Cup, the Dubai Sheema Classic, and the Prix Jacques Le Marois.
On the weekend, he had two runners in the 2025 Betfred Derby at Epsom, where he was dressed in a bespoke morning suit crafted by our Head Cutter, Isaac Gomis Besant.
Isaac has crafted a bespoke morning suit that perfectly balances tradition with Thady’s distinctive flair. The ensemble features a charcoal grey morning coat and matching high-waisted trousers with a classic fishtail back, crafted in a lightweight, breathable charcoal wool - ideal for ensuring comfort and elegance throughout a summer’s day at the races.
The standout element of the look is the dark green, double-breasted waistcoat, finished with white slips. These slips are a distinctive detail inspired by Regency-era tailoring, harking back to the 1800’s where gentlemen layered their waistcoats with detachable slips for both practicality and style. Traditionally, slips were worn for celebratory occasions such as weddings, and removed for more solemn events like funerals.
While many choose to follow in the regal footsteps of King Charles with a classic three-piece grey morning suit, Thady has chosen to express his individuality with a green waistcoat, adding a personal touch while perfectly remaining within the dress code.
With this look, Thady certainly made a lasting impression.
